Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)chimneys and in forks of trees. They lay for or five white eggs and sit on them for about a month.
The magpie is a rather nice looking black and white bird about the same size as a jackdaw. Like the hawk they are flesh eaters and often swoop down and carry off young chickens. Some people look on magpies as omens and the following is believed regarding them -
"One for sorrow; two for joy;
Three for a wedding; four to die;
Five for silver; six for gold;
Seven for a story never to be told."
- The following birds are very common in this district (Grange, Fermoy Co Cork) - the robin, the wren, the sparrow and the tit-lark.
