  1. In the parish of Kilworth near Fermoy Co Cork there lived during the penal times a priest named Fr McCarthy. He was hunted by soldiers and priest hunters and was forced to hide in the glens and mountains from his enemies. He was constantly watched by spies who saw him hiding and reported his whereabouts to the enemy.
At last the English found out every haunt and hiding place of his and they sent soldiers to the hiding places to guard them and to capture Fr. McCarthy if they could. After some time he was captured and cast into prison and shot later.
