  1. The games I generally play with my brothers are hurling, nut-cracking, marbles, hoop-racing, hide and go seek, blindsman's-buff, rounders, bumpers, and four corner fool.
    Nut-cracking is in season about Novermber as the nuts are shelled about that time. We collect nuts and put them to save. After a time we hole them with a nail and pull a cord with a knot on one end through the nuts, and crack them with other boys' nuts - who ever breaks the most nuts wins the game.
    Marbles - a game we usually played about March when the roads were lovely and dry. Each boy places so many marbles in a ring and there is one large marble called a taw, this is used by each in their turn to knock out the marbles out of the ring. Whoever owns the marble that is knocked out has to replace
