barony of Clongibbons. There was an old castle here long ago and that is how the town-land got its name.
There are forty - three families in the town -land, and about one hundred and fifty seven people, O'Regan is the commonest name. There are several families of the name.
The very old houses are thatched. There are about twenty old people in the town - land, but they do not know Irish or have no interesting stories in either English or Irish.
In years gone by the houses were more plentiful. Many old remains are to be seen. Many people from this district went to America and to other countries. They were going as quickly as they could, out of it
There is a good portion of the land boggy, but where it is good it is indeed very fertile.
There is no wood in the district The town - land is not in any way important. There is a river and a stream - either of them is not of any interest.
