  2. It is an old custom to have a goose cooked for Michaelmas night, September 29th.
    We have "snap-apple" on Hallowe'en and also a special cake in which are placed a piece of cloth, a piece of timber and a ring. It is said that the person who gets the piece of cloth will be a nun. Whoever gets the piece of timber is believed to be the first to die, while the person who gets the ring is said to be the first to be married.
    For "snap-apple an apple is placed in a tub of water, and all the young people of the house gather around the tub. They all try to catch the
