  1. The only place where treasure is supposed to be hidden in my district is in a liss which stands on the western side of Mr. Richard Slyne's cottage in the townland of Ahacross, Kildorrery, Co Cork and on the lands of Mr. James Dwane. This liss was supposed to have a crock of gold hidden under a whitethorn tree. It is not known that any attempts were made to dig for the gold. The amount was supposed to be very big. My father heard an old man say many years ago that the treasure was placed there by the Danes. It was said that it was guarded by the fairies and that something would befall anyone who went in quest of it.
