- (Caislean Eóin)The parish of Ballyhea has many townlands and each has its own history. In the townland of Castlewrixon and in Cuis-lán-Óin mountain is a famous spot known as "Richard's Bed". Richard was a highway robber who lived in a cave beside this place. He used to meet people travelling from Cork to Dublin, hold them up and take their money from them. Richard's Cave is situated beside the road which at that time was the main road from Cork to Dublin.A gentleman used to travel this road from Dublin to Cork to collect his rents. Each time he passed he was held up by Richard and robbed of his money. At last his agent thought of a plan. One day he said to his master. "You stay at home and I will go and meet the robber. As he passed the mountain he was held up by Richard who spoke very kindly and said, You will be very late returning" and, what(continues on next page)
