  1. Creagh Castle is situated south-east of Doneraile. On the left of the avenue, as you approach the house, there is a wood and a light in the shape of a lantern is seen there every night up in the trees. At about 11.p.m. a fox-hound is also seen following a white fox crossing the avenue into the field at the opposite side.

    A very old and grey-headed woman is also seen milking a dark brown cow. She wears an apron.
    If any man cuts a stick from that wood it will not burn and it will turn black in the fire. There is a witch in the wood, who would curse you for taking the timber from it.
