  1. About seventy years ago pedlars were were very plentiful in Ireland. They used to go around from house to house selling pins, needles, thread and many other things. At that time there was a pedlar going around this district. One winters night he was passing my granfather's house. He knocked at the door and he was given food. He said he was going to County Limerick and the he would go over the hill. Then he left. There is an old lime kiln outside our gate with a deep loch in front. The night being very dark he could not find his way. He fell into the Loch and was drowned. Next morning his bag and walking stick were found on the edge of the loch. Every night up till a year ago a light was used to come up the mountain and go into the kiln.
