  1. There is only one tailor in Milford.
    He works at home.
    He does not stock cloth.
    Cloth is not spun or woven locally.
    Tweeds, serges & flannel (for pants) are worn locally.
    Sayings:
    Teachers & tailors are the "cracktest" (giddiest) in the world.
    "Well wear, soon tear & pay the maker"

  2. Implements: A sewing machine, an iron, a thimble, tape (measuring), scissors, ironing board, 'chalk'.
    Shirts: Very few make them in the home. Flannelette & flannel are used. No a/ct. of shirts made from flax grown locally.
    Socks & Stockings: These are made in the homes. The thread is not spun at home. There is not one spinning wheel here.
    Special clothes: White & blue are the general colours for the bride.
    Some (a few) men were black hat & clothes for funerals.
