  1. Place three saucers on the kitchen table. Put some earth in one some water in another and a coin in the third. Each competitor was blindfolded and he pawed around for the table on which the saucers are placed.
    If he put his hand in the saucer containing the water it is said he would cross the sea before the year was out. If he put his hand in the saucer having the earth he would die within the year. If he found the saucer containing the coin he was to get a legacy.
