A mouse makes her nest in bits of paper and wisps of hay.

A mouse makes her nest of bits of paper and wisps of hay. She makes it under the floor. There are about twelve in each litter. They are blind for nine days.
The rat makes her nest of bits of paper and rags. There are about six in each litter. She likes to make it in a pit of beet or of mangolds so that the young ones and herself will have plenty food near at hand.
