  1. OLD CRAFTS: CANDLE MAKING
    Candles were made in this district long ago. People who made them had a mould. Strong thread was used for wicks. Melted fat was poured around the wick into the mould.
    Rush lights were also used and were made as follows. Rushes were peeled and cut into convenient lengths. They were dipped in oil or melted fat and were then hung over the fireplace and used when required.
