  1. Once upon a time there did engineers come from the Board of Works to mark a line of road through a man’s farm in Rowells. The man came out to stop them. The men wouldn’t stop for him; they said they got authority and that they would show him the papers. He said he did not give a damn about their papers. He turned from them and opened a gate leading to the next field and left in a cross bull. The bull ran towards the strange men and the men began to run and the farmer shouted at the top of his voice “show him the papers" " show him the papers”
