  1. Members of the Newman family who owned Newberry Manor in the parish of Kilshannig, barony of Duhallow, Co. Cork, which is now in the possession of the Nazareth Nuns, were the landlords of a part of the parish until the 1903 Land Act was passed, when the property was sold and the Landlord went to live in London.
    The Newmans had the name of being "good" men and the old people say that to their knowledge there were no evictions on the estate.
