  1. In the Famine Times the Parish Priest of Kilshannig, (Duhallow, Co. Cork) was Rev. Fr Scannell who was noted for his charity to the poor.
    One day a poor man came to his house and asked for a pair of old boots. The Priest had only two pairs and he ordered his housekeeper to give the poor man one pair. Later in the day when the priest wanted to leave home he asked the housekeeper to bring him his boots and when putting the on he saw that they were either two rights or two lefts.
