  1. Long ago people used not get boots until they would be able to earn the price of them.
    Very few children in this district go barefoot now even in the summer, but children used go barefoot during the whole year long ago.
    There are two shoemakers in this district. One has only recently set up in business but the other is over sixty years of age and has been at the business since he was a boy. His father was a shoemaker too but the father of the younger man was not.
