  1. There are two holy wells in this parish. In the townland of Scarra there is a holy well called "Tobar Caoc", the water of which is said to be a cure for sore eyes.
    There is a holy well at Kilgobinet called "St. Abby's Well". The pattern day is the 11th Feb. and people pay rounds at the well by saying the rosary and pausing after each decade.
    Numbers of people have been cured at this well.
    My sister had been suffering from sore eyes for two years, so she decided to go to Abby's Well and pay round. Two days previous to the pattern day she went to
