The priest of the parish not being very intimate with them some trouble arose between them and the O'Keeffes falsely accused the priest of some crime. The bishop hearing of the occurrence sent for the priest and having satisfied himself that the priest was innocent he told the priest to go back and give them a fortnight to withdraw their accusation. This they would not do and the bishop gave orders to the priest to curse them from the altar. This was the curse:
