  1. There were two hedge schools in Tureencahill, and one in Reinasup. The first school was at William Fitzgearld's of Reinsup. The teacher was William MacAuliffe. The second school was at Tureencahill, and was taught by Con Keeffe. The third school was at Tureencahill, and was taught by Tade Cronin. The school teachers taught English and Irish. The pupils made their own pens from quills of geese and they used make the pencils from stones. The seats were large stones
