  1. The TIME was kept long ago with sundials. They were made of a block of timber and a slate placed on the top of it and a little stick stuck in the middle of the slate and when the sun would be shining the shadow of the stick would fall on some one of the numbers from one to twelve which are marked on the slate.
    The fire was lighted with a flint stone. The stone was struck against a piece of steel. A spark would come out of the stone, and with that spark a paper is lighted and with that the fire is lighted.
    MIRRORS:- They got a clean pail of water and looked into it and the shadow appeared in the water.
    POLISH: They polished their boots with
