- In a triangular field in Timothy Ring's land there is a pond. This field was used for steeping and bleaching flax in olden days, hence, Túirín Clasach {Túirín Flannaidhthe nó Gleann 'na h-Uibhe} and {Túirín na Righthe(?) nó Fhir-Thighthe}
There was a weaver in Shanballa named Tom Donoghue. He had a cabin where John Mahony's house is now built. He was able to cure toothaches and head-aches and mostly all diseases by charms. The patient should hold a rod in his hand and Tom would say some words and the patient would be all right. - Dyeing:
Cloths were dyed with oil and paint while it is also believed they got some stuff in Cork to do it. They boiled the oil and paint(continues on next page) - Collector
