  1. Shops were not common in this district in olden times. Brosna village was the nearest place where shops existed. The greater part of the shop business was done after mass on Sundays and on fair days. There were no set market days. Eggs and butter were always taken in exchange for goods like tea, sugar, tobacco, parafin oil, and delph.
    Swapping or exchanging animal went on a good. If one animal was better than the other there was boot given. This was a small sum of money given with the least valuable
