    The principal fairs held in the are held in the town of Abbeyfeale The biggest fairs of the year are held on June 29th and on Sept 24th The fairs are held in the Square. There is no Custom or toll paid except at the two largest fairs of the year Sept and June The fairs are monthly Pigs and bonhams are usually sold on the day before the cattle and sheep fair Luck money usually called luck or luck penny is paid as follows a sixpence on a bonham a shilling on a calf two shillings on dry heifers and from three to four shillings on a third who acts as mediator The seller asks so much the buyers offers so much and the mediator suggests to both to split the difference If both parties are agreeable to this the bargain is made Halters or ropes used in bringing animals to fairs are retained by seller There are fairs also held in the village of Brosna but not to such an extent as in former times The fairs are held near the cemetary which is a very ancient one
