  1. There was an old man who lived long ago in a small house near a farmer's house. He used to have very little turf. He was a great friend at the farmer's house. He went roving there every night. When he was going home the farmer conveyed him to the gate, and bade him good night.
    Now this man noticed his turf getting smaller, and came to the conclusion that he had a helper, so he said to his wife. "Someone must be calling to our rick" She said, "Would it strike you that it would be our rover." So he decided to watch him. The old man came on again the next night, and parted at the gate, as usual. The farmer went in and the old man had his basket inside the ditch and began to fill at the rick. The farmer came suddenly out and caught him in his job, "Ha, Ha, Jack my boy I have you now, "Wisha", says the old man, "Would you come
