    Festal times
Christmas is the greatest feast of the year. On Saint Stephen's Day people dress up and go from house to house singing a song.
The words of the song are
    The wren the wren
    The king of all birds
On Saint Stephen's Day he was caught in the furze.
From bush to bush and from tree to tree.
In Derinagree chapel he broke his knee.
Although he being little his family being great.
Cheer up lads and lassies and give us a treat.
If you treat us of the best.
In heaven I hope your soul will rest.
If you treat us of the small.
It won't agree with the wren boys at all.
So up with the kittles and down with the pan give us the money to bury the wren.
