  1. I've kissed you and called you my darling
E'er I first heard the sound of your voice
Ive kissed you and called you my darling
When your eyes made my fond heart rejoice.
    II
I've treasured that treasure my darling
And built it a home in my heart
    Till its secret soothing possession
Formed e'en of my being a part.
    III
I spent years in this fanciful blindness
    Believing that treasure my own
    But awakening to fancy's unkindness
I found that my phantom had flown
    IV
But this jewel I wear in my bosom
    Must there undividedly shine
And the maiden I call my darling
Must be nobody's darling but mine.
