  1. It sits on the lap of Duhallow
    By the bank of young winding Brogeen
    'Twixt the Araglen stream and the Allow,
    'Midst verdure of emerald green;
    Caressed by the sunlight and shadow
    (The pure Kerry breeze blowing free)
    Waiting a brighter to-morrow,
    This neat little town Boherbue.
    II
    The cream of the youth of our nation
    May claim this fair prospect as home;
    Whose every mute aspiration
    Breathes the holy aroma of Rome,
    The God of the Gael e'er protect it
    In racial sweet unity!
    And may nothing unChristian affect it
    This clean little town of Boherbue
    III
    With truth and pretence (as a mixture)
    This worlds a puzzle profound
    But with one that I know "in the picture"
    (The grand Kerry Hills for background)
    We'd "jump" all the problems to follow
    And calm and contented we would be
    Lulled to rest on the lap of Duhallow
    Our own lovely home Boherbue.
