Whole families emigrated owing to eviction by the landlords,
some perished on foreign shores and others got on well. There is a story told of an emigrant from South-Cork returning to Ireland after a number of years and placing a wreath on the landlords grave, because he said, were it not for the landlord having evicted him from his little farm he'd be still working there instead of owning a big business as he had in America
