    shown. Goods were often paid for with, sometimes, a load of hay or turf, or a bag of potatoes, or even a load of oats, and sometimes goods were paid for by labour.
    Markets were generally held in the neighbouring towns of Kanturk and Newmarket. Most of these little huxters shops as they were called, are nearly all done away with.
