  1. In former times the people got their remedies from herbs, birds, and animals.
    Long ago if a crane was seen he was to be killed. The meaning of killing these birds was to get their bones and boil them to cure rheumatism and rheumatic pains. There was a cure got from a goose to cure cuts. This is called goose-grease which is got from the fat of the goose. The cure the people had for a toothache was: boiled milk and pepper and a small piece of an onion.
