  1. Cárthac is the only saint that is connected with this district.
    He came from Kerry and built a hut on the Both Cárthaig and there he remained for some time and that is how the Both Cárthaig got its name.
    Then he left it and went on by the Blackwater until he arrived at Lismore. He built a monastery at Lismore. There is not any festival day kept in honour of him.
    There is not any stories connected with him. He did not perform any miracles at the Both Cárthaig. There is not any people in this district called after him.
