  1. Long ago the people dyed the cloth with the juice of plants. Log-wood was used to dye the cloth black. Copperas was used to dye the cloth brown. Sorrel was boiled with black-berries to dye the cloth black. The sorrel was boiled also with the red flower of fuschia to dye the cloth red. Sorrel is a plant that grows on the brow of ridges of potatoes.
