I live in a Townland called Barr an Churraigh which is in the parish of Newmarket and in the Diocese of Cloyne. Along the southern part of this townland there is a wood. In the western part of the wood there is a great mound of earth called Clais Domhnaill. It is said that a giant named Dómhnall jumped from the Both Carthaig to this spot and made that clais with his heels.

One night Jer Cosgrove came to our house. On his way home he went through one of my fathers fields. After every step he took he fell on his knees and sway a great light before him
