  1. A Song

Once proud Carrig- Castle Oh! What a saddening sight

Once proud Carrig- Castle, Oh! What a saddening sight,
To look upon your ruined walls,
And gaze on thee to- night,
To see the ivy growing wild, within its shattered walls
Where briar and nettle reign supreme,
    Within its kingly halls.
Where is your ancient grandeur gone?
    Where is your lordly pride?
To- night you are sad and lonely, By Ownanaar's wild tide,
Save for the owl that hovers round, And gives a plaintive moan,
As if weeping for your fallen state, And days that are now flown.
