  1. The stock of our farm consists of twenty two milch cows, two farm horses, a brood mare, a yearling colt, and a two year old colt. Besides these there are a number of calves, pigs, sheep and lambs. The poultry consists of hens, ducks and geese.
Some of the cows have names but not very many. They are named for convenience, so as to distinguish one from another when speaking. In former years all the farmers had pet names on their cows but very few carry that still.
When driving the cows we say:- "How" "How" or when calling them "Huff" "Huff". They understand after a little time. We call the calves by saying "Suck" "Suck" and at once they come.
The cow-sheds on our farm are slated buildings each holding sixteen cows.
