- The Castle is about a mile from the village. It belonged to a man named Barrett. He lived there with his family about a hundred years ago. Hugh O'Neill passed the Castle as he was going to Kinsale. He asked who lived in it. He was told that it was Barrett who lived in it. He said "the traitor, I despise him. He came there yesterday. It was Elizabeth put him there". There is a hole in the wall of the Castle, and people say that you can see a Leipreachan, sitting on a thimble, in it. It is said that Brian Boru jumped from the top of the Castle on horseback. The print of horses hoofs are on a rock. They say that he thrw a big stone from the Castle into the Rock Field. The print of his fingers are on the stone. Daney Mannix
