- (continued from previous page)There is a bridge in Waterloo about a mile on the straight road from Blarney. It joins the townlands of Balygibin and Knocknasuff. Its name is Putland's Bridge.
It is so called because it was Putland the landlord built it in the year 1815. He built it to join his two territories on both sides of the river Martin. Before this there was no bridge only stepping stones for the people to cross.
He built it also as a present to his agents. He lived at Bray. When he died his land was given to Smith who was his agent who was married to the landlord's daughter.
There was a stone in the bridge but it was lost when the bridge was blown up. On this stone was written the date that it was built.
