  1. I am living in the townland of Kilmartrin in the parish of Donoughmore, in the Barony of Muskerry, in the County of Cork.
There are eighteen families in the townland, and eighty four people. There are eleven slate houses, and seven thatched. There are six old people living there. Some of them know a little Irish, but they never speak it. They seldom tell stories in English or Irish.
There is only one house in this townland which is not occupied at present. Formerly it was owned by Mr Riordan.
Many people from this district went to America in former years. Nearly all the land in the townland is good, except in the northern side, where it is hilly.
The Dripsey river rises in the west of Barracharing and forms a boundary between Kilmartrin and Kilcullen. This is the only big river near this townland, but there are some streams running through it also.
