  1. In the parish of Ovens on the western boundary of Clashanafrin is the townland of Kilbane. Here, before the Penal Days, a thatched Catholic Church existed. St. Finbarr officiated there. The church was situated about one hundred yards from the main road. The church road is very ancient. It leads to Rathcullen, the alleged birthplace of St. Finbarr. Traces of the churchyard still remain. By the church road the O'Mahony forces are said to have marched on their way to the battle of Clonfarf.
