  1. Very long ago there lived a girl in Ardeen named Katie Twomey. One morning as she was going for the cows she was passing a hut in which no one lived. She looked in the door and she saw an animal like a dog stretched on the floor. He was screaming and complaining and he told her sit down to the table and she did and there was every kind of food on it and he asked her would she marry him and she said she would not. She went home and she told her father and he told her to say she would marry him. She went for the cows again the next morning and she called to the hut and she said she would. Then he changed from a dog to a man and they went home and they got married.
