    Our pavement that never was smeared by a broom
    For we never keep innocent animals pent in
    But let them enjoy the sweet town of Macroom.
    At the corner beyond holding forth, in old Bellew.
    Antiquarian, historian and newsmonger too,
    If you want information 'tis he that can tell you
    Of all that occured for a century or two
    He can tell you traditions and count generations
    And talk of the worthies that sleep in the tomb
    He can clearly recount 'mongst the great of all nations
    The names that adorned the sweet town of Macroom
    On a fine summer's day it is truly delightful
    To take a short walk to the top of Sleaveen
    'Twill pay you right well, though the ascent is frightfull
    For there you behold a magnificent scene,
    In the east, you will plainly perceive Cork and Blarney
    Which the sunbeams of morning so brightly illume;
    To the west Bantry Bay and the Lakes of Killarney,
    You may see from above the Sweet town of Macroom.
    We've a market supplied with the finest potatoes.
