   Roinn Roinn Postáil

   When my soul shall escape from its prison of clay
   And wings its ainial flight through the blue,
   Methinks I will hover awhile as I pass
   To bid to Macroom a last lingering adieu

   When the birds are all sleeping, the stars shining bright
   The moonbeams at play upon every lawn
   Sure I'll pause for the last taste of earthly delight
   On the banks of my own my beloved Sullane.

   Dear spot where in childhood I often times strayed
   With the friends and companions now scattered afar,
   And dreamt the vain dreams that as soon were to fade
   Midst the din of the world's loud clamour and war.

   Sullane bid thy water then caoin for the brave,
   Who before the invader were destined to fall
   When valour and daring prevailed not to save
   And the tyrants rode conquerors lord over all.

   How fondly I cherish each memory dear,
   That embellished the tents of life's rosiest dawn,
