    The fond recollections and pleasures of yore
    And the voices of older companions come crowding
    Down here where the sedges are beating the shore.
    Then I'm borne aloft on the pennons of fancies
    With lightening like speed over mountains and lea
    Till I find myself right midst the scenes of my boyhood.
    In dear, beloved, beautiful Ballinagree.
    Ah! yes I can see it now smiling before me
    As fair as it seemed when a school boy strayed
    Over fields fresh and green never dreaming of sorrow
    Or lingered for hours in some cool pleasant shade.
