    There was a "Plantation" in Tullig about the years 1834-39.

    There was a "Plantation" in Tullig.

    about the years 1834-39.
    In May 1839 Ruby was "planted" in the farm now owned by Mr ODonoghue.
    Previous to that there were others nearer Millstreet The Kellihers were ousted from Tullig & forced to build themselves hovels in a bog on the slope of Mushera where their descendants have prospered. & reclaimed the land.
    O'Brien gives a description of what he noticed at their arrival.

    Ag eirighe dom ar maidin
    I dtúis an Fhogmhair aibidh [?]
    Is mé ag féachaint uam ón leachain (name of a field -The Lacha)
    Ar árd ma Dhomain
    Do connach na slúghta pearsa
    I líon isteach fe'n mbaille
    Ag infhiúcádh ár gcuid [?]
    Agus d'áireamh doibh féin
    Do thuiteas síos i gcreathaibh
    Níor fhan luaht im' bhallaibh
    Níor fhan caint im theangan
    Le scáird is le sgéíbh
    Nír fhan radharc im' [?]
    Géimnig bó nó tarbh
    Ná coilleach ag glaodhach ar maidin
    A'fogairt a'lae.
