    The boys and girls in this district long ago made lots of things. They used to make door mats and Pangers for mangolds. They used to make them out of dry rushes. They used to make timber gates long ago. They used not have any iron gates. The men used to make straw hats for themselves out of rushes. The girls used to make home made lace. They used to knit stockings and make all their own clothes.
