The Great Famine occurred in the years 1845, 1846, 1847, and it was very bad in 1848. It was the blight of the potato crop which caused the Famine.
The people at that time used chiefly live on potatoes, when the potatoes were gone they used to live by raw turnips, and they used to half-boil meal and eat it. 2.
