    and Waterford. The largest fort in Ireland is in full view about seven miles distant. Both these forts have double rings which historians ascribe as signifing the dwelling places of some of the Danish rulers.

    Both are connected by a small underground drain passage, parts of which were unearthed in recent years. There is no visible opening in the embankments and I do not know if there are any underground Chambers. The high fort is reputed to be a fairy fort, & only last year residents in the locality when passing near this lonely rampart vouched for seeing the fairy queen. According to local tradition. A young farmer purchased land in the vicinity years ago, and, on learning from old residents about the fairy queen, he got so perturbed about the strange phenomenon, he went to a friend for advice
