  1. Long ago there was a man who lived over the Ferry with his wife. He was very greedy to the poor and when people came for a weight of potatoes he would only give them two potatoes. Also when the neighbours would come for a pint of milk he would give them a half pint. One night [?] when the man went out at the stroke of 12 oclock he saw a white thing hopping a few yards from him. He did not recognise it as a skull until it came near him. The skull spoke to the man and said "Come follow me" Now he took the man in to a Grave-yard and lifted a sod and under the
