  1. Long ago there lived near Clontade a man named Tom Connor. He was twice married.
    He had two children by his first wife. After about seven or eight years his two children died and a few years after his wife followed them to the grave. She was regretted by all as she was so good and charitable.
    Some years later he got married again. His second wife was very selfish and never gave anything to the poor.
    Near them lived a poor girl named Magie Hallacy and her brother Neddy. They were very poor and this Christmas
